National Account Manager-Home Depot

Reporting to the Vice President Sales - Retail, the National Account Manager is responsible for all sales and service functions including but not limited to The Home Depot account.   The individual successful in this role will manage the relationship with the corporate merchants and support staff to maintain existing business at superior service levels as well as develop new business through expanding the category with new products and cross merchandising opportunities.  This person should also lead in the development of other value-added products and services to complement the core product line and position this product effectively into the supply channel.  The National Account Manager will be accountable for achieving optimum levels of sales and profits for the company within the defined product category and account.

   Responsibilities

(shall include but not be limited to the following)

  • Maintain and develop the relationship with the Global Product Merchant and all support staff across all regions of The Home Depot account.
  • Grow top line sales through implementing creative programs to foster a leadership position within the product category while maintaining solid profit margins.
  • Based on a thorough understanding of competitive programs through both traditional retail and distribution channels, recommend pricing strategies to insure optimum sales and profits.
  • Manage the various assigned merchandising service groups to support the demands of the category within the account. 
  • Develop sales and merchandising programs to meet the needs of The Home Depot.
  • Develop product training programs, Point of Purchase materials, merchandising programs, and advertising to support the product category.
  • Work with internal support teams and external agencies to accomplish defined goals.

Core Competencies and Requirements

  • Education:    4 year degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience:  5+ years experience in sales or National Account management 
  • Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong communication, organizational and management skills
  • Thorough knowledge of The Home Depot and the home center industry
  • Self-starter, entrepreneurial oriented, motivator, work well both autonomously and cross functionally
  • Ability to sell an idea, product or concepts effectively
  • Proven track record of success in building sales and gross margins.
