Regional Sales Manager- Central Region

Manages and administers the sales activities for a specific region for the organization’s products and services. Manages multiple independent sales representative agencies and may manage direct sales employees as assigned.

Principle Responsibility

  • Manages the sales growth and opportunities of a specific region by maintaining a constant awareness of markets.
  • Selects / reviews and monitors performance of sales representative organizations within the assigned region.
  • Hires, trains and provides performance evaluations for direct employees within the assigned region.
  • Directs and develops sales representative’s agencies to achieve goals within the local market(s) and provides support as required.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with national accounts, regional dealers and customers (e.g. OEM accounts).
  • Promotes organization’s products in formal presentations to architects, designers and targeted organizations.
  • Acts as a facilitator and provides recommendations to senior management. Provides senior management with key sales information as it relates to markets and regions.
  • Establishes short and long term goals and sales strategies for the assigned region.
  • Directs the tactical strategy of the sales representatives within the region to achieve assigned sales goals.
  • Responsible for the timely management of regional trade shows and participates within the organization for lead management and tracking after the tradeshow.
  • Manages the sales budget and maintains discipline within the region to stay within assigned budgets
  • Supervises the efforts of direct employees and independent sales representative agencies for the organization. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training; directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining of employees and representative agencies. Has primary responsibility for addressing customer complaints and problem resolution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (8.A) from a four-year college or university in business, marketing or related area, plus 7-10 years of progressive sales, marketing and managerial experience.
  • This position requires a significant travel responsibility due to the large geography assigned. Candidate must be willing and able to travel 60% to 70% without difficulty. Travel will also require a valid passport for international travel (to company facilities and events) as well as periodic travel to the company headquarters for meetings and events.

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of organization’s products, sales and marketing techniques and financial principles.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and professional journals.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from a wide variety of individuals, including customers, architects, designers and senior management.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Prioritize and plan work activities of self and team; plan additional resources within the scope of assigned responsibilities.
