Director of Commerical Marketing- Home Center

Under the direction of the Sr.Vice President of Marketing, develop all aspects of Home Center commercial marketing, focusing on driving sales growth and margin enhancement initially for Home Depot and then Lowe’s, and Menards. Work with customer team(s) and internal departments to develop the overall Home Center strategy including, marketing plans, promotions, merchandising, advertising, brand development product launches and budgets.
Directs Channel Marketing Manager(s) execution of marketing mix priorities, overall channel budgets, maintain detailed knowledge of customers and end users, competitive product/program comparisons, and all Marketing plan development. This position will be the primary liaison working closely with Sales, Engineering, Product Management, and Marketing Coordinators to determine channel requirements for channel, new product development and to launch new products and all channel marketing initiatives.
Principle Responsibility
- Identification of commercial business requirements and manage the development of all marketing mix priorities, while overseeing Marketing efforts for the channel. Develop and implement annual Home Center strategies to meet to Strategic plan sales, margin objectives, and corporate marketing/brand objectives.
- Develops, and has responsibility for, the overall channel budget. Develop required budget estimates to support plans to meet sales objectives, and Marketing plan development.
- Act as the main marketing liaison between customer and internal departments, working with accounts to drive commercial strategy, and take a required role in all major customer visits, meetings, in-store events, and shows.
- Maintain an intimate knowledge of the entire product offering and related products, the end users that are targeted through the channel and all competitive product/program comparisons in order to help in the development of channel product line opportunities and determine channel requirements for new product development and product promotions and specials.
- Overall responsibility for development and implementation of commercial launch strategies for all new products impacting channel. Work with Sales, Marketing and Product Management to generate appropriate information to develop strategies for sustaining engineering products, channel initiatives and specials. Manage priority of these initiatives to meet sales and profitability goals in accordance with channel and corporate objectives.
- Manage communication efforts by providing channel information to execute agreed upon marketing initiatives. Primary direction for development of customer presentations, merchandising sets, packaging, customer website, in-store opportunities, advertising tabs, etc.
- Understand and be able to communicate how current market research impacts customer. Work closely with the Sales Analyst and Product Marketing to understand financials, POS data, and profitability of products, customers, and channel. Assist in preparing sales forecasts for new products and promotions as required.
- Work with Marketing on printed materials that support specified customers objectives. Provide input in determining promotional tools needed to achieve customer objectives. Communicate all necessary information to Marketing Communications for follow through, i.e. customer’s communication objectives, promotional dates and timing, quantities, etc. Responsible for working to insure all projects are approved internally and with account.
- Respond to daily correspondence from specified accounts, Sales, Marketing and other departments promptly and professionally.
- Provide direction, development and day to day management for Channel Manager(s).
- Perform all other duties as required.
Experience & Education Requirements
Education: MBA with an emphasis in Marketing preferred.
BS/BA Degree with emphasis in Marketing and/or Sales required.
Experience: Eight to ten years of Home Center marketing experience, ideally working with both Lowe’s and Home Depot.
Candidate must have a solid record with proven results in channel, sales, and marketing.
Has meaningful exposure to consumers, competitors and markets.
Travel: Expected travel between 30% to 50% of the time, depending upon location.
Location: Preference in Greenville, PA or Chicago, IL, but not limited for the right individual
